Ask an Attorney Program

The forefront of VAP’s intake process is the Ask an Attorney Program (AAA).  There are AAA programs held at 10 different locations in Northeastern Minnesota.  Here, anyone can come and receive up to 15 minutes of free legal advice from a volunteer attorney.  During this advice session, the volunteer attorney may recommend that an individual needs further services from VAP.  VAP will follow up with those recommendations generally within two weeks of the AAA program. 

Listed below are the details for each of our AAA Programs. Unless otherwise indicated, individuals are heard on a first come first served basis. 

  • Aitkin County 4th Tuesday of the month, 12:00 p.m. Aitkin County Sheriff’s Conference Room 

  • Carlton County 4th Thursday of the month, 12:00 p.m., Carlton County Courthouse Law Library Cook and Lake County, by appointment only. Call our office at (218) 723-4005, Monday through Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. 

  • Crow Wing County 2nd Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m. New Judicial Center, Law Library 

  • Kanabec County 2nd Monday of the month, 12:00 p.m. Kanabec County Courthouse, 3rd Floor 

  • Itasca County 4th Tuesday of each month, 12:00 p.m. Itasca County Courthouse 

  • Pine County 1st Thursday of the month, 12:00 p.m. Pine County Courthouse 

  • St. Louis County—Duluth, by appointment only. Call our office at (218) 723-4005, Monday through Friday, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. 

  • St. Louis County—Virginia 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month 12:00 p.m, Virginia Courthouse, Room 4 

  • St. Louis County—Hibbing 1st Wednesday of the month, 12:00 p.m. Hibbing Courthouse, Jury Lounge
