  The Volunteer Attorney Program
The Volunteer Attorney Program was founded in 1981 as one of five nationwide American Bar Association's pro bono pilot projects.

Serving St. Louis - North and South, Lake Cook, Itasca, Carlton, Pine, Kanabec, Aitkin, Cass and Crow Wing, we are a non-profit organization providing free legal services to income-eligible clients in Northeastern Minnesota.

We provide representation in all areas of civil law that we are able to find an attorney for. However, we do not sue people.  We also provide services to other non-profits in matters of employment law, non-profit status and incorporation.

  Kids Law
The Kids Law Project focuses extensively on the legal needs and rights of children. It is a voice for children and represents their unique, special needs.

The Kids Law Project gives expert guidance and direction to children and their families who are in need of legal services.

This service is available to the community and to individual children who ensure that children have a voice in the judicial and administrative process and in the legislative arena.
  Our Cases
The majority of our caseload is family law (divorce, custody, visitation, paternity adjudication) and bankruptcy.

Clients accepted for service have income levels at 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. We do not accept criminal cases.
       Northland Mediation
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a way to resolve disputes while avoiding the hostility and expense of litigation. Increasingly, courts are requiring that parties in a dispute attempt some form of ADR to resolve their problems.

Mediation is a form of ADR that uses a neutral third party to facilitate an agreement between the parties.

  Legal Dads
Being a parent can be a wonderful and fulfilling experience.

But parents also have many responsibilities. They must provide their children with food, clothing, a place to live, education, medical care, and love.
